MJ-7 Gnatsum #015 - C-GCVC

 Le MJ-7 Gnatsum (anagramme de Mustang) est une réplique à l'échelle 2/3 du célèbre chasseur de la seconde guerre mondiale.

Construit par W. T. Foster, le premier vol a eu lieu en 1976 à Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan (Canada).

Son moteur est un Ranger en ligne de 200 cv. La masse maxi est 1985 lbs (900 kg).

Il est endommagé pour une raison inconnue et nous retrouvons sa trace au rassemblement annuel de l'EAA à Oshkosh en 2002 où son fuselage est mis en vente à l'Aeromart.

 The MJ-7 Gnatsum, a 2/3 scale replica of the legendary P-51 Mustang, carries a name that’s both playful and clever — “Gnatsum” is simply “Mustang” in reverse.

This particular example was built by W.T. Foster, and its first flight took place in 1976 at Moose Jaw, in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada — a fitting birthplace for a warbird tribute in a region steeped in aviation history.

Power came from a 200 hp inline Ranger engine, giving it an authentic “vintage” sound and feel. With a maximum takeoff weight of 1985 lbs (900 kg), this compact Mustang packed plenty of performance for its size.

At some point, however, the aircraft suffered damage under unknown circumstances. Its story resurfaced in 2002, when its fuselage appeared for sale at Aeromart, the legendary EAA AirVenture flea market in Oshkosh — a bittersweet fate for a unique machine.
