MJ-77 #053 - N51MJ

 Le MJ-77 Gnatsum (anagramme de Mustang) est une réplique à l'échelle 3/4 du célèbre chasseur de la seconde guerre mondiale.

Construit par M. Reichert, le premier vol a eu lieu en 1999, à Owosso dans le Michigan (USA).

Le 10 septembre 1999, après 11 heures de vol, l'appareil émet de la fumée, pert de la puissance puis le moteur s'arrête. Le pilote, qui n'a pas survécu en perdant le contrôle de l'appareil à basse altitude, avait mal refermé le bouchon de remplissage d'huile (défectueux). L'huile a fini par manquer ce qui a entraîné un arrêt du moteur.

She was built by Mr Reichert from Owosso, Michigan (USA). The maiden flight was 1999.

On Sept. 10, 1999, after 11 hours of flight, the plane trail smoke and turn back to the airport. After the engine stopped, the pilote (fatal injuried) lost the control, impacted and rest inverted. The investigation unveiled that the engine oil tank filler neck was found without its cap engaged. The filler cap's locking tangs were found damaged. The oil missed and the engine failed..
