Construction: 1996-2001 |
Moteur / Engine : Lycoming O-320-B2C 160 cv / hp - Voltige / Aerobatic | |
Pierre Missol starts building the Tempête n°47 at the end of 1996 (week 46), fuselage and wing being assembled on the 11 nov 1998. First flight is performed on 6 June 2001 in Bourg en Bresse (01) airfield. The painting is a tribute to Marcel Jurca. The engine comes from a helicopter R22: Lycoming O-320B2C 160 hp, 560 hr since new. Technical data: Peculiarities: Fuselage reinforced, wing no torque at the trailing edge, spar to standard dimension after receiving Marcel Jurca agreement, according to the fatigue and stress test on wood, glued shaded canopy, home made land gear, hydraulic discs brakes, home made cowling with front cylinders deflectors, engine cooling cocoon, various component (40 & 26 liters tanks, engine cocoon, dash board, side door, various karmans, tail wheel blade, carburetor air box, air intake, and so on…) electrical trim and various aerodynamical enhancement. Performances: Total cost: 150.000 FF, about 23k€: (37kF for the engine, 21kF for the wood, 34kF for covering and painting, the remaining 60kF split between new equipments and parts such as instruments, wheel (Aircraft Spruce USA), canopy (Soplami Toulouse), propeller, cone, controls cables (Jacotet), machining and various other items… First flight impressions: It runs, it climbs, and look very maneuverable are the commentaries from people on the ground. I only expect from this aircraft shear pleasure, and I feel I won't be disappointed. Aircraft is sparkling, very responsive, while sharp and pleasing. Classic flight controls (conjugate) request care in order to restitute aircraft energy at best. Approach (PTU) is pinned at 80 kt but could be reduced to 70 kt with some more experience. When landing, some care is essential: gliding just above the landing strip and letting the air mattress under the wing disappear. Remarks: it's a toy (with a T) made with care. Never go meet Arnaud in Nangis, you'd come back with a set of Jurca blueprints that would open you a brand new world. Thank you Marcel for drawing the aircraft I was dreamin' of.
